48×36 Pallets – A Great Alternative to Standard Pallets

Try 48×36 Pallets for Your Business
Without a doubt the most common pallet for years has been the 48×40 standard 4way pallet. It’s so popular that many companies don’t give other sizes a thought.
However, in my travels, I see a lot of companies who have freight ready to ship out on pallets that don’t fit the product. In most cases, the pallet is wider than the product. The shrink wrap on these loads is not tight against the product all the way down to the pallet because the wider pallet causes the wrap to flare out. This causes unsafe loads where the products could fall or be damaged.
In most cases this can be solved by using a narrower pallet such as 48×36 pallets.
These are a much better choice for securing loads that are less than 40″ wide. Here are some advantages:
- Shrink wrap and banding are snug against the product down to the 48x 36 pallets.
- They are hardwood pallets and have not been repaired as many times as a typical 48×40 #1 or #2.
- Since these are 48×36″ wide, you’ll gain 4″ per pallet when loading them sideways onto a trailer which allows room for 2 more spots, and could result in lowering freight costs.
So check to see if your pallets match the dimensions of your product.
If not, chances are we have 48×36 pallets or other sizes that will.
